!!!!!!!!!
life has been really crazy lately. i can't believe time is flying by so fast but yesterday was already mine and josh's wedding shower. our moms and my bridesmaids did an awesome job of throwing us a kickass party, complete with sugar skull cupcakes, family party punch, skeleton flamingos and the equipment to throw our very own carnival at home (i'll explain everything later). we got so spoiled we went home with enough presents to fill up half our living room. we're still trying to put everything away and the job is far from done. hopefully some people will share some photos from the shower soon, because i was so preoccupied i didn't get to snap one single picture. josh and i have a hard time being the center of attention, so it was very overwhelming for the both of us. i need some time to recover! ha. we're lucky that we have such amazing friends and family, and are very thankful for that!!
in the meantime while i reshape my mushy brains, i will leave you with this picture of my new cheeseburger garden tattoo. sorry its a little raw in the photo but as you can imagine, i was too excited not to share it immediately. CHEESEBURGER GARDEN! hell yes.

record store day: the loot
we've been without internet for the past few days at home, which has been driving me absolutely bonkers. josh and i joked that we were going to pen letters by candlelight in the downtime normally reserved for relaxing in front of some netflix or playing around on the internet. its a shame we've become so dependent on it, but i feel so darn out of the loop!
record store day was a great success for us this year. in the past i've always had to work, so this was the first year i got to participate in any of the festivities. first i played records for an hour at my favorite store here in town, then josh and i hit up all the local haunts. here is my stash!
i got a lot of 90s garage stuff like the drags, teengenerate, the rip offs and the baseball furies. finding the drags LP (for under 5 bucks!) was a particular score; i never see them new OR used when i'm out digging around for vinyl.
also nabbed some punk stuff, new and old: circle jerks, fag cop and the sinks. picked up the "pebbles vol. 9" comp of 60s garage, as well as two monkees 45s with picture sleeves that i needed to add to my collection. now that i have all the monkees full length releases on vinyl, my next goal will be to collect all the 45 singles with their original picture sleeve.
two pleasant surprises were the famous monsters of cereal cardboard cereal box 45 and the "taboo" record with the shrunken head cover that i've seen before and always wanted. it looks great in the basement next to all our tiki stuff! a few more old 45s rounded out my stack. josh got a pile o' wax equally as big and we came home two tired but very happy campers.
what about you? did you venture out on record store day? if so, did you come back with anything cool?

happy record store day!
(source: unknown)
record store day was started in 2007 and has grown to be recognized internationally as an observed celebration of music. it is especially important for independent and underground bands/labels/stores that heavily rely on fan support.
go out and hug your favorite record store today!!!
i'll be celebrating by dj'ing at my favorite local record shop (my mind's eye in cleveland) with a handful of other friends and djs, and then stopping by most of the local record shops to see what i can dig up.
viva la vinyl!

sunday junkin
here's a look at today's loot:
we got some old funeral home items, including a smelling salts kit, a book about the funeral biz and a cool old undertaking sign.
i upgraded my (sleeveless) copy of "let's spend the nite together," which makes a frequent appearance on the turntable when i dj out. also got this filthy old train photo to stick in the hillbilly bathroom in the basement.
here's some cute stuff: a postcard (new) and a big-eyed kitten button (vintage)
even more cute! i got one of those furry-haired bugs in my easter basket when i was little and it made me really sad when i lost it. i recently found the same yellow one i had, and now added the blue one to the collection.
the cute big-eyed gal in the back row is actually a rotating jewelry box in really nice shape. i originally picked her up super cheap thinking i would just sell her, but she looks sooo cute on my vanity i don't think i'm going to be able to part with her.
grandpa and eddie can now be added to the lily and herman bobbleheads, and reba the mail lady was the last character i needed to complete my pee wee's playhouse set. i'm still on the lookout for her mailbag, though!! at least she had her skirt, which is often missing.
and finally, i picked up this addams family card game from 1965 in very nice shape with all the cards included for a super deal.
all in all, not a bad day for junkin!!
what kind of treasures did the weekend bring you?
